
AHMEDABAD: West Indies set a competitive target of 261 runs for India in the third One-day International here at the Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera on Monday.
Put into bat by India captain Virender Sehwag, the West Indies made 260 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
Marlon Samuels top scored with a patient 58 before an aggressive batting display by Andre Russell and captain Darren Sammy who added 79 runs from just 34 balls for an unbeaten sixth wicket partnership.
Sammy hammered 41 from 17 balls with five fours and two sixes while Russel struck four boundaries and two sixers in his 18-ball knockc of 40 runs.
Other prominent scorers were Denesh Ramdin (38), Kieron Pollard (29) and Darren Bravo (26 retired hurt).
For India, seamer Vinay Kumar claimed two wickets 39 runs.
India, leading 2-0 in the five-match series, made one change from the side that won the second one-dayer by five wickets as they brought in paceman Abhimanyu Mithun in place of Varun Aaron.
The West Indies replaced opener Adrian Barath with debutant spinner Sunil Narine.
